A 2027 PIHBA category-winning title becomes eligible for Author of the Year nomination. A category win does not automatically make its author an Author of the Year finalist, and no finalist certificate is issued at the category-win stage.
Reader support may be celebrated through a separate Readers’ Choice distinction. Voting or reader support alone does not determine Author of the Year.
A personal distinction from the Founder & CEO
The President’s Choice Award is a special monthly distinction personally selected by Johanna Vendel, Founder and CEO of The Prestigious International Hope Book Awards. Unlike a regular book-category award, this recognition considers both the literary work and the author behind it.
The $75 fee is a one-time submission for consideration. It is not a monthly fee, and authors do not need to pay or submit again each month.
If an author is not selected during the month of entry, the submission has not been unsuccessful or forgotten. The book and author profile remain eligible for consideration in subsequent months.
PIHBA receives many deserving entries, and only one President’s Choice recipient is selected each month. A recognition of this nature should never be rushed.
What the President considers
Time is taken to become familiar with each author’s work and journey. Consideration includes the hope and impact carried by the book, as well as how authentically the author represents that message beyond the written page.
“There may come a month when you are not expecting anything at all, and that could be the month your work and journey stand out as the one I believe should receive the President’s Choice Award.”
— Johanna Vendel, Founder & CEO of PIHBA
The $75 submission fee is not a purchase of the award, and selection is never guaranteed simply because an author has entered. The award recognizes an author whose book, message, character, influence, and contribution to hope collectively represent the heart of PIHBA.
