Born in Parys in the Free State, Miranda learned early to adapt to uncertainty and conceal difficult emotions. Later diagnoses of bipolar disorder and chronic reactive Epstein–Barr virus added daily challenges to her journey.
Many of her poems were written in her darkest seasons. In despair she discovered that she was not alone, and faith became a light within the chaos. Her husband, children, and grandchildren remain her pride and joy.
